The securities market in the Dominican Republic takes a significant step towards transparency and standardization with the new Circular No. 04/24, issued by the Superintendence of the Securities Market (SIMV). This document, in addition to reinforcing guidelines for the proper valuation of assets, introduces a groundbreaking recognition: professional associations accredited by the Pan American Union of Valuation Associations (UPAV) and the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) will be the accepted references for real estate appraisals and valuations.

What does Circular No. 04/24 imply?
The regulation establishes that:
Exclusive Recognition: Only reports prepared by professionals registered with associations recognized by UPAV or IVSC, in addition to local institutions such as ITADO or CODIA, will be valid.
Immediate Application: This provision takes effect on the business day following its publication.
Increased Rigor and Trust: Investors are provided with an additional guarantee of quality and professionalism in appraisals.
